rockies and wassatch mountains at sunset

Wow!  What a day!  We went over the Rockies and the winds were extremely high.  There was blowing snow everywhere.  The roads were pretty clear with just a few icy spots.  It is so much more beautiful in the winter than in the summer.  The mountains are gorgeous.  We did take a back road to Salt Lake city which cut off 2 hours on the road.  It was a bit icy on Soldier Summit at 7,500 feet, but all in all, not too bad.  We left Salt Lake City and were on the way to the salt flats when Al snapped this picture of the sunset reflecting on the wassatch mountains.  The picture does not do it justice.  They looked like they were on fire.  The temperature going through the Rockies was 9 degrees but Salt Lake was 47 degrees.  Tommorrow we will stop at the Bonneville salt flats before we continue on to Reno, and Lake Tahoe Nevada.
